Granite Le Pelley has been shortlisted for a Guersey Design Award for the works involved with the Church Square Ramp in St Peter Port
St Peter Port Douzaine initiated the brief to improve pedistrian access between Church Square and the High Street by replacing three steps with a ramp. The site is in an urban conservation area and therefore extremely sensitive to development. It was also important not to disturb the water pump and the Town barrier stone. PF&A Ltd consulted various stakeholders, particularly, in relation to wheelchair access and a number of design solutions were explored.
Considerable input was provided by the Environment Department, with planning permission granted in May 2012. Following full approval the project was completed by late December 2012.
The overall winner and commendations will be revealed at an awards ceremony on 3rd April 2014
