Logie Point1

Granite Le Pelley Jersey were very proud to work on this contemporary private residence on the South West coast of Jersey. The house is in an area of outstanding natural beauty perched above the rocky coastline of Corbiere and the expanse of St Ouens Bay, a lot of the area being left to nature and protected. The design by Guz Architects of Singapore and local practice Riva Architects was to blend into the surrounding countryside and make minimal impact on its location as well as being of great architectural merit.

The brief was to find a stone that was sympathetic to the surroundings and the tradition of dry stone walling in Jersey and still add to the contemporary minimalist design of the building

After looking at various granites and limestones from Europe we found that Burlington Stone have a weathered walling which perfectly suited the colouring that the building wanted to achieve. The grey / blue colouring and the browns and oranges blended in with surrounding local rock and gave a more natural and weathered look to the building.

The internal stone needed to be a continuation of the external finishes. The weathered walling was continued through windows and doors with minimal frames to give a seamless flow outside-in. The Cumbrian slate was then clad to selected internal walls, fireplaces and chimneys and in seating and shelving areas along with a black granite for sills and lintels and a white woodvein limestone for the bathrooms.
